Lena Boone Zuni Labradorite wolf fetish carving..

This Lena Boone wolf is carved from Labradorite, a stone with many subtle highlights that the camera does not always capture.

When hand-held and repositioned to a light source, crystals inside the stone flash glowing colors. This makes it a prized carving material, one of our favorites.

A stacked medicine pack consists of shell arrowhead, turquoise beads and a snip of branch coral, all secured by sinew-like threads.

The eyes are inlaid coral.

Lena rarely signs her carvings, In this case, however, she signed the underside in characters that are extremely small and hard to make out without magnification

Additional Info

We have added a photo of the underside of the
carving to demonstrate the refraction common
with most Labradorite.

This characteristic is very difficult to see unless
you are holding the material in your hand and can
move it in relation to the light source.

Nevertheless, it is in this Lena Boone Zuni
Labradorite wolf, just difficult to capture
in a photograph.

Labradorite is a feldspar with internal crystals
that are parallel. That is what causes the light
to be refracted in different colors when the
angle of the light changes.
