Napatchie Sharky

(1971 – 2017) | Cape Dorset, Nunavut, Canada From his obituary: “Napatchie Sharky is from a family of artists.  His mother is Ragee Kiliktee, a carver and the daughter of master carver Kuppapik Ragee.  His older brother is well known carver Toonoo Sharky.  Napatchie learned to carve by watching his stepfather, prominent artist Shorty Kiliktee.  Over the years Napatchie’s carving has evolved into its own unique style.  He carves many variations of birds using realistic presentation and impressive delicate details.  He is known for the open and thin wings of his birdlife.  His work has been exhibited in Canada, US and Germany.”
