horned lizard from dolomite.
ZuniLink acquired this unusual carving directly from Melvin Sandoval in 2005, while visiting the carver’s home pueblo.
Melvin is the only Pueblo fetish carver that, to our knowledge, as had a book dedicated to his work and life. While not born a Zuni, he is married to a Zuni woman and regularly participates in Zuni activities.
