Additional Info

Stewart Alonzo is a Navajo Indian carver. His carvings don't qualify as true fetish carvings since this practice is attributed to Zuni Indians.

But, as with so many aspects of Native American Indian life, cross-pollination comes into play. Zunis would carve figures , usually of domestic animals, for Navajos. Naturally, Navajo carvers figured they could embrace the tradition too. When the product is something as charming as these two bears , each with a shell "fish" in their muzzles, who could disagree?
