Arctic Eskimo Eskimo narwhale carved from walrus tusk, on a mammoth fossil base by Brian Kulik. 4 1/2" x 10" #D528

Brian Kulik is a native of King Island, Alaska, on the Bering Strait. He is an excellent carver and created this masterpiece of Inuit/Eskimo art. The narwhale was carved from remaindered walrus tusk. The base was created from fossilized mammoth material. Kulik added bits of sea bottom to the base to make this more than carving.

Unfortunately, at one time in its previous ownership. the distinctive proboscis was broken in to two section. Those pieces will be include separately when the work is packed for shipping, which is free within the 48 mainland United States. A conservator can easily repair and restore the broken proboscis. As a result of the damage, the offering price for this piece has been dramatically reduced. The purchaser can own a remarkable item of Inuit / Eskimo art for a small fraction of its original cost.

Provenance is supported by government tags showing the artist, the place of origin and the permit number (#1472)

We would keep this beautiful object as part of our personal collection, as we have in the 21 years since we acquired it directly from the artist. But. since we are phasing out our retail activity in our ninth decade on the planet, we cannot accept returns. What you see is what you get and get to keep.
